During World War II, French composer Olivier Messiaen was captured by the German army at Verdun and imprisoned at a German POW camp.
It was there he met a violinist, a cellist and a clarinettist among his fellow prisoners that inspired him to compose one of the most influential works of the 20th century chamber repertoire, Quartet for the End of Time. It is presented, explored and performed at Omnibus by four award-winning artists – Yelian He (cello), Joseph Shiner (clarinet), Michael Foyle (violin) and Maksim Stsura (piano).
This event includes a pre-concert presentation.
