Brian McClure, Artist in Residence
Travels in Clapham
Omnibus presents new work by Brian McClure, Artist in Residence. Brian has been with Omnibus since he dropped in one Saturday afternoon in May 2013 to help to refurbish the building. All the work in the exhibition dates from when Omnibus opened in November of 2013.
His new exhibition puts together drawings, paintings, sculpture, photography, movie clips and text. The work includes notes, jokes, try outs, demo pieces, work plans and documentary photographs. They have been produced in workshops run by Omnibus and in co-operation with other community arts groups in locations around Clapham.
Locations have included the Omnibus building, a community workspace in a borrowed room in Inferno’s nightclub in the High Street, the exhibition hall at Studio Voltaire in nearby St. Luke’s Avenue, and the Wellbeing Centre in far off Wix’s Lane, on the Wandsworth-Lambeth border.
The reason that most of works exist is to encourage people to join in and to enjoy making things, so drop in for an immersive experience.
